are we really supposed to be afraid of falling into a bottomless pit?

Update:

is it really trolling to ask a legitimate philosophy question that is not homework based? is it no different from "if a tree falls in the woods, does it make a sound?" or "what's the meaning of life?"

What is a troll? a guy that goes around pointing fingers, or a guy who gets fingered by a troll?
