Acer Aspire laptop won't turn on...?

I purchased an acer Aspire 5253, model no: p5we6. It was not refurbished but it is a factory second (damaged box etc so they re-package and sell them a bit cheaper). It didn't turn on when I tried to start it Friday so I returned to where i purchased it and it turned on first go! Feeling a little silly I figured I'd just held the button down for too long or not for long enough. Anyway, it worked great last night as we tested a few trial games that came with the laptop until this morning when i went to turn it on again before heading out to purchase a new USB wireless internet and... It will not turn on again!!!! I've charged it, kept it plugged in for over 2hrs and it still will not switch on. I'm obviously returning it tomorrow but has anyone experienced anything similar with an acer before..? Please help, this was my girlfriends 30th bday present so i'm pretty disappointed to say the least and could use some advice, if not ammo when i return to the computer place tomorrow so I don't feel stupid again lol Many thanks :)

Take out the battery and plug it in....if it works your battery is toast.....if you plug it in and it still doesn't work its a internal problem

I've upgrade through 5 Acer computers of the years. I love them and have never had any trouble. When it's time to upgrade, I a better one and sell my old ones on eBay. I've never heard about anything you described except it might be the battery. If you are taking ammo, but sure to get jacketed hollow points for maximum trauma.

I believe they had a power button that easily broke. You should feel a solid detent click when you press the power, if not your power switch panel may need replacing.
