Spiritually Speaking, what is the appropriate response to a threat?

Someone posted an answer directly advocating violence against a group of people, and against me, specifically, and I wondered what the appropriate response would be, darlings.

Although this person has a history of making threats, and posting obscene, hate-filled, often violent content, Yahoo has done nothing but suspend one of his many accounts, so reporting the harassment and threats seems to do nothing...that's why I'm wondering if there's a better response.

The question is here:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag3.1...

If the answer disappears, it was from that Ankaboot character, and it was:

"If the kuffar did not exist the book would not make sense for those to come till the final day.

So the kuffar have to be here, so kill them and do yourself a favour and the rest of the earth! Al hamdoullah

Allah is only going to make more Kuffar so you can kill them all inshAllah but they will just keep coming back because the book talks of Kuffar till the final day. Al hamdoullah

The Kuffar now however are not threat only but to themselves. So it is very exciting to see the kuffar as it proves the book and Allah SWT to Adam to Muhammed PBUT perfectly. Exactly what Allah SWT said in the Quran is exactly what they say and do... Go read!

Source(s):

Such as Jaden's Aunt who hates Islam for over 5 years and makes a point of telling everyone about her misguided internet bullshitshe makes online with her stupid friends.

So the KUFFAR show you themselves and their internal thoughts on here so you can clearly see what Jaden's Aunts intentions are surely she is pure evil and should be killed first. InshAllah amin :)"

(Just to be clear - I haven't been on here for 5 years, and I don't hate Islam, so there's no truth in what this person spews, either.)

Thank you for your help, darlings!!

(((((((((((Jayden's Aunt))))))))))) You're so sweet and I can't believe somebody is doing this to you.

Don't sweat it too much with thinking of a response. You have been threatened and that is serious business. I think you should email the Yahoo! Answers directly and report him. I have known of some other regulars who have been personally threatened by other users and surprisingly, Yahoo! helped them out. I know of a case where they got the authorities involved.

As you said, reporting him is pretty much useless. He just gets a new YA-account, and is happy that he succeeded in annoying you. What he wants from you is your attention and bringing you out of balance.

Just ignore him and stay centered.

He will fade away and forget you in time for sure.

As you will have forgotten him too.

You asked for a spiritual answer.

Be still, centered and do nothing.

An example of this can be seen in the "Tao Te Ching". I know it is long. Please keep reading, and in the end you will be rewarded with an insight...:

"The ancient Masters were profound and subtle.

    Their wisdom was unfathomable.

    There is no way to describe it;

all we can describe is their appearance. They were careful

as someone crossing an iced-over stream.

Alert as a warrior in enemy territory.

    Courteous as a guest.

    Fluid as melting ice.

Shapable as a block of wood.

    Receptive as a valley.

Clear as a glass of water. Do you have the patience to wait

till your mud settles and the water is clear?

    Can you remain unmoving

till the right action arises by itself? The Master doesn't seek fulfillment.

    Not seeking, not expecting,

she is present, and can welcome all things."

    "Nothing in the world

is as soft and yielding as water.

Yet for dissolving the hard and inflexible,

    nothing can surpass it. The soft overcomes the hard;

    the gentle overcomes the rigid.

    Everyone knows this is true,

but few can put it into practice. Therefore the Master remains

serene in the midst of sorrow.

    Evil cannot enter his heart.

Because he has given up helping,

he is people's greatest help. True words seem paradoxical."

"The supreme good is like water,

which nourishes all things without trying to.

It is content with the low places that people disdain.

Thus it is like the Tao. In dwelling, live close to the ground.

In thinking, keep to the simple.

In conflict, be fair and generous.

In governing, don't try to control.

In work, do what you enjoy.

In family life, be completely present. When you are content to be simply yourself

    and don't compare or compete,

    everybody will respect you."

    Conclusion:

"Be serene in the midst of sorrow.

In conflict, be fair and generous.

Be Clear as a glass of water. Do you have the patience to wait

till your mud settles and the water is clear?

    Can you remain unmoving

till the right action arises by itself?

    The Master doesn't seek fulfillment.

    Not seeking, not expecting,

she is present, and can welcome all things."

  • They can kill the body but ones own soul is quite another quest, not of this realm.

There used to be an old cliche we used to say, when I was growing up:

"Im rubber, you're glue. Anything you say bounces off me and sticks back on you!"

Other than this, the best thing to say is, nothing at all. :D

    Peace and Blessings

*Note: I have spoken with this person on a number of occasions and have yet to experience this kind of behavior from him. Maybe perhaps he is experiencing some personal trauma and has chosen Yahoo Answers to express his feelings (anger).

Nobody truly knows what another is going through even with first-hand information. Different people show their emotional stress and pain in many different ways. It may not always be done with tact and grace but hey I see it this way; They must be hurting far worse than I am, if they are spewing any degree of hate. :D

I would suggest first submitting an inquiry as to whether local law enforcement should be called to gather any evidence you have to submit. (Meaning you should be willing to conduce to full disclosure for this process.) A lot of times local police will disregard internet based crimes, unless the crime is non-personal, such as an identity fraud ring, etc. Sometimes, you can get the local police to take information and handle the federal leo contact. Sometimes, you should follow up on both levels. Also, you may want to see if your state has a source for protecting it's citizens against internet crime.

A crime against a person occurs in the jurisdiction in which it occurred. Determining between the location of the occurrence as where it started, or where it ended up becomes irrelevant in a diligent search for the truth and justice of matters. To this end, your situation is a federal matter, as it crosses state borders.

(If your problem is larger than that, you may want to check Interpol's website.)

Personally, you should copy and paste what the entire question was and all comments left by this user. All you can do on here is report him, but if you feel threatened or physically in danger you can report him to the police. And yes, they actually can do something about it, but only if there is true evidence of endangerment to you.

If you are Wiccan or Pagan I would say try to deal with this situation as much as you can without magic but if nothing seems to work and the ignorant troll won't stop, then chant a blessing to free him of his negative ways and do a blessing on yourself to keep you from feeling negatively. If that doesn't work then do a banishing ritual.

Legally though, I would say report him and document each instance like I mentioned earlier.

At this point, thinking madly of every possible contingency available to us here at Yahoo, once you thumbs down a person's post, there is the option of reporting it.

Tracing the ip address so you can find out what city he lives in and emailing him saying: I know where you live" is counterproductive in people like that. He would take it as a threat, and we don't know how capable he is of using his resources and finding where YOU live.

    So that's not an option.

Reporting him seriously to the authorities for hate mail/threats of bodily harm may be your next more serious option, and although difficult, I'm not sure what the authorities can do. ...but even if a report is filed with them, this is a beginning of a history with this individual and they become aware of him.

I know this seems a drastic measure, however cyber bullying shouldn't be taken lightly.

emoticons are supposed to make his threat less harmful I guess. Yeesh.

Do people really put all that much thought into the things they allow themselves to type out here? His post seems to be a rant, but I'm sure he considers himself innocent.

I cannot think of any other option except maybe prayer, but that's just me.

    prayer increases faith

    faith increases love

love increases good deeds toward mankind.

(I don't think I got the quote quite right, but it's something Mother Teresa said)

Forgive me, darling, but I'm too busy laughing at the concept of sweet, lovely you being labeled as the personification of evil...Looks like this freakazoid forgot to take his Thorazine today.

I can't really suggest anything that hasn't already been posted, but I concur with Mister Dog, in that I'm thoroughly honored to be amongst your stupid little friends. Praise Allah!

If you can gather a few of those kind of posts and forward them to the FBI, someone will probably look into it eventually.

I know, I know, that's probably not as satisfying as you were hoping for, I really just answered to point out that he ended a death threat with a smiley face. :) That's maybe crazier than any of the pseudoreligious babble he wrote.

  • I agree with what the nice lady from San Antonio said.

Ankaboot is clearly a deranged individual, but being insane does not means he isn't a dangerous person, or that his posting does not represent a clear and present danger that law enforcement should investigate.

I hope Y!A takes this seriously, and cooperates with the appropriate law enforcement agencies, this nutcase is likely to hurt innocent people someday imho.

My dad used to say:"killem with kindness". The Bible says: Be kind to those who spitefully use you so by in doing this, you cut off their face." By showing fear or retaliation, you only add fuel to the fire. Don't make it so important or they will win. Ignore it and it will just blow away....
