Physical relation is directly related to emotions and intensity of love and feelings. So the more you are in sync and in love with a person, the better and more intense will be your physical relations.

Physical relations are a way of showing love. Not the only way of course but a way. I think that the media/society has given sex a "dirty" connotation when it is actually an intimate thing. Sexuality is a natural part of a healthy relationship.
