The ideal diet at 7 months, if you can manage it, is to continue breastfeeding on demand while letting the baby pick up and gum foods until he learns to feed himself. Any yellow or orange cooked vegetables, rice or oat or barley grain products, or small amounts of strained meats are all fine for the next few months.

If you are not breastfeeding, the above diet plus formula will do fine.

He can eat anything soft enough for him to gum. Any food you eat, as long as it's cooked, mashed, or cut into tiny bites. The only things he shouldn't have at this age are nuts, and (some doctors say) eggs and strawberries.

his digestive system is ready for solid foods!! as long as there are no known or suspected food allergies, he can eat the exact same healthy foods you feed the rest of the family. use a potato masher or blender to reduce texture. give him plenty of water in his cup & let him breastfeed on demand.
