unprotected sex with heroin junkie?
first of all i understand that it wasn't smart of me to hook up with such a person. so please no lectures. I'm aware that i wasn't using my brain. anyways, as mentioned i had sex one time with a friend of mine that is an ex junkie. now he told me that he was clear of any stds but i still worry that theres a chance i could of contracted hiv. am i just being paranoid and stereotypical? has anyone ever found themselves is this predicament? if so what was your outcome? i plan on going and getting tested sometime today, just wanted to see if anyone had any advice..

Advice is don't ever have any unprotected sex again, its never worth it. If your worried about HIV infection they ask you to wait 3 months from the unprotected sex date to get tested then you have to go back in 6 months to a year to get tested again because the virus doesn't always show up quickly. I had a condom break and went through the entire testing regime.

almost all injecting heroin users have hepatitis c which is hard to catch through sex but if the guy told you he's clear he probably is, most junkies are safe users these days as they get free needles so dont need to share but if they do share they'll usually get checked. if he/she told you they were clear and they knowingly have hiv and you get it thats called attempted murder and they can be tried for it - its happened! i think the person is probably telling the truth but if you're worried get yourself checked out.

you're more at risk of a form of hepatitis. it's extremely common in needle users who share their needles
