Since everyone in hockey needs a nickname?

Come up with a nickname for the following players:

Karl Alzner (I say Secretary of Homeland Security, since it harkens back to Langway, but also references the times)

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (I say Tad, as in "Tad Nugent" from That 70s Show, plus he's young, so he's like a Tadpole in the league)

Tim Gleason

John Tavares

feel free to come up with any others you feel like, these are just a handful guys I can think of who I've never heard a true nickname for

Update:

vokoun is definitely the vokeswagon, given the way the defense is going to ride him from time to time, he's reliable, and it's the only car w/ a name you can make from his name (plus, a lot of the bandwagon fans are going to ride him)

    1. I call Karl Alzner either; Alzy, Wonder Twin 1, or Carlzner: part 1.

    2. I call him hop-skipper, just his last name and it it just works. I totally see him skipping through a meadow with a bunch of wild flowers in his hand...

    3. Gleaster! The usual NHL nickname suffix :P (see: Cabbie)

    4. Taves, I think that's what people call him now. Something new could be Tavers?

    5. I call John Carlson; JCar, Carly (just a wee girly for me), Wonder Twin 2, and Carlzner: part 2.

    6. Matt Bradley is Brads, durr

    7. Flieschmann is Flash, cause he's speedy and his last name is really hard to spell!

    8. Perreault is Matt P

    9. Johansonn is mojo, cause he's got his mojo on

    10. Hendricks, Hendy!!!

    11. Neuvirth, Neuvy

Ok, this is getting repetitive. You get the picture :P

PS- and no, Threeormore is NOT an acceptable nickname for Theo :)

  • If I'm at a game, it's just easier to yell "Alzy" or refer to him as Alzy. And his defensive partner, well, I just yell, "Carlson!!!" because it's easier that way.

The tough part is coming up with a nickname for Vokoun that the crowd can chant easily. His name is just not given to cheers, but damn, he was great last night.

But no, not everyone in hockey needs a nickname.

"Girly man" could apply to them, since they skate around like girls with their sissy hockey sticks, poking and slapping at people.

As my boxer friend once said, "If you want to fight, get in that ring."
