What is the difference between the Latin dance and the ballroom version of the cha cha?

    From what I have seen and experienced, it is more in the style than anything. Ballroom Cha Cha is more upright where the 'club' Cha Cha is more into the ground, if that makes any sense. Also, I believe that club Cha Cha has more room for improvisation than ballroom Cha Cha. Also, (and this varies form region to region from what I've seen, I could be wrong) club Cha Cha doesn't have to start on beat 2. Ballroom Cha Cha ALWAYS starts with a break or rock step on beat 2, occasionally with a 'throw away' step to the side on 1 to start into the break on 2.
