So many read of those people, and all they can see is that there were some people, and they were killed. They have no concept of what wicked people are. Wicked. Evil. Nasty. Filthy people.

People that want to do things to Gods people, their child and their grandmother that are beyond your comprehension.

No. it is not God that is cruel.

In a society who may claim that the most wicked thing that another person has ever done to them is cut them off in traffic, steal a parking space, or get the job promotion that they wanted, they will never understand the kind of wickedness that would make God want to destroy an entire pagan nation.

It's God's killing people in the Old Testament that made me an Atheist.

I used to. Now I cheer him on. I've learned to get in line with Him. He is what good and righteousness is, while humans including me are not right. We ae so bad that we wouldn't do anything good unless God was affecting us.

So, everyone gets to believe what they want. That's fine. I'm going to trust God, that should be fine with everyone (and it isn't fine with some).

From the perspective of the cultures who were murdering, raping, robbing, and enslaving the Israelites... I suppose it was cruel.

NO, I understand his reasons and I also am made aware in his word and by his actions that he gave fair warning and chances, when they did not listen he had to discipline, no different than any other parent. When it was unclean, it had to be destroyed, God cannot abide filthiness, wickedness or evil.

  • No because God is love and love never acts in cruelty.
