i was pretty much in the same boat as you in high school, except i wanted to join the navy and become a corpsman. my family, which is full of vets, all suggested i get some higher education first. so i went to college for a few years, changed majors, changed schools. and finally decided to go into EMS without even thinking about my old plans of enlisting. well it recently dawned on me that my life has kind of gone full circle and brought me back to emergency medicine. I received my EMT certification and now i want to become a corpsman again and im about to enlist. I will say this. when i went to college i partied a lot. and had a lot of fun. and did just about everything you would expect a frat boy in college would do. but i know people who enlisted right away and guss what? when they got out, they came home, and partied a lot. late nights drinking, partying, all that stuff will be here when you get out, if you choose to enlist.
i would say if you want to party you can spend a year getting your EMT basic training as a civi, and still have plenty of time to party and then enlist with a little heads up on the competition.
and you said military comes first, but as a general rule of emergency medicine, you come first.
if you get yourself hurt how can you help save anyone else? it sound a little selfish but really its taking care of yourself so you can take care of others.
and if its something you really truly want to do, it will stay with you. it takes a special kind of person to work in Emergency medicine and i admire you for it. especially at such a young age.
good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Being a battle engineer may not aid you in any respect in non-army similar issues. You can be blowing up limitations, constructing fundamental buildings like bridges, and clearing mine fields, and many others. As a battle medic you can get your EMT certification however that is it. I might as an alternative be a medic in view that I uncover it a extra attractive process. Pretty so much instantly infantry besides while any one will get hit you care for him, you additionally do not have as many tedious infantry tasks like laundry, mass rifle cleansing, and many others as regularly. If you are relatively hardcore appear into fitting a detailed operations medic. They cross by way of the SOCM direction that's whatever from trauma care, to prescribing narcotics, to giving start, to running on goats. Although do not feel you are simply going to go RASP/Ranger School or SFAS/Q Course, 70% fail and such a lot teach for years previous to attending, be in god form. I'm an 11b within the seventy fifth and the medics in my battalion are probably the most revered participants. They will situation headshots one minute then shop a existence the following. The younger 11s within the seventy fifth get **** on through NCO's, the 68W's as a rule do not. I've actually visible NCO's inform each person however the medic to wash or some thing tedious and permit the medic cross off on his possess (customarily taking in poor health name or organizing clinical apparatus). Good good fortune and I wish this is helping.

Let me tell u something..... Not everything will be planned as we think...... U r gonna tell me." yea yea i know the risk and all tht sht" and people say im sorry for ur loss or im srry to hear that but they are not because they dont know what it's like they just wanna make u feel better, & nope u might think 1 out of 10 about risk and be at combat unless u r this kind of person who is like rude, aggressive or something thts the kind of person that might be 4 out of 10 to go to war........
U said" military comes firsts"
Some people tht got PSTD careless about civilian life after see all the things tht they saw, u never know when or how it will happen... But no one knows so thats why people decide military first... Me? I was going to enlist right away, but guess what... I had an advisor at my old high school tht he ask me..... What u gonna do after military. I said"anything, and maybe go to college" but he told me this quote from "jarhead"
I dont really remember it but i'll guess
"A man gets a rifle, use for many years & go to war with it. after his service he think that his done with the rifle. But whatever u do with ur hands like love a woman, grown a child, take care of ur family.... Ur hands always remember the rifle"
I'm gonna try the NROTC program at college to get my degree and im good to go for the Marine Corps " officer".... And its actually pretty nice u just have to get good grades and dont look back......
