How to beat midnight hunger cravings?

Here's the deal. I have volleyball training 2 nights a week and work out at the gym 2-3 times a week as well.

I eat a normal breakfast/lunch/dinner combination and usually have fruit as snacks in between. Dinner is normally a couple of hours before training.

When I get home, I'm normally ok, but by about 11pm I end up feeling hungry.

How do I beat the hunger cravings?

It's a habit. You've gotten into the routine of eating around 11pm so your body naturally gets hungry around that time. It's difficult but within a week or so you can break the habit, but it will take some will power on your end. Also eating late at night is terrible if you are trying to lose weight or maintain. As others have mentioned try drinking a big glass of water and or go to bed earlier. The longer you are up, the more hungry you'll become and tempted to eat something.

Just keep telling yourself that if you can force yourself to not eat, or drink water instead and or go to bed a little earlier you can break this eating late habit within 1-2 weeks. Habits are very easy to form, but difficult to break, but once they are broken you are good to go!

Eat more throughout the day. You won't be as hungry if you eat smaller meals more often.

Also, consuming more protein, fat, and fiber with each meal will make you feel more full.

I would see being hungry as an advantage. If you're an athlete and workout a lot, I would eat more because nutrition is very important to successful volleyball training.

I don't know what your goals are. Whatever your goals, nutrition can make a big difference with losing weight, gaining muscle, improving at volleyball, or just being a healthier person.

If your work out is late then your, always going to be hungry. Also if you work oit very hard then tour calorie intake can go up. But if you really want to not take in more calories then try drinkinb water or eating yogurt. They have low calorie numbers and should help your hunger. And there is no real way to stop hunger, you just have to find healthy ways to satisfy it.

    1/2 banana

1/2 cup soy milk or 4-6 oz soy yogurt with a 1/2 cup fat-free milk added

    5 ice cubes

Drink water and go back to sleep. Also try to eat more fiber during the day to keep you fuller longer.
