English is mostly a mixture of Latin and Germanic languages so any of the latin-based, romance languages (Spanish, French, Italian...) or Germanic languages (German, Dutch, ...) have a fair amount of overlap with English. I personally started with Spanish but have also studied German and French. I didn't find any of them to be especially hard, though it's difficult to judge which is 'easiest'. For me French has been the easiest to learn, but having studied Spanish for years and being a native English speaker, I have a lot of language resources which have made French much easier to learn.

I would just suggest going with the one you think sounds coolest or that is spoken in a place you want to visit some day!

Dutch is probably the easiest.Anyway easier than German. However it is a lot easier for a Dutchman to learn English than the other way around because English is easier to learn. However Spanish is a lot more useful even though it is rather difficult. On the bright side Spanish and English share a lot of words derived from Latin which you do not find in Dutch or German.

FRENCH is a Latin language and so that you would wish to head for a further Latin language You might check out Italian or Spanish. Italian is a fairly lovely language. Spanish is meant to be the following simplest language after English. If you desired to take a look at a Teutonic language, you might check out German Good good fortune

  • Emmmm...none?

what i mean is that english has a really poor grammar (sorry to say that, but its true lol) so any language u will try to learn is gonna turn out to be hard for you,if u wanna learn it well i mean.. German has many words that are similar to english but this doesnt make it easy to learn since the grammar is veeery difficult i think! maybe it would be easy to memorize those words that are similar to english ones but that's not such a facility...

you could probably go with Italian or Spanish, they are both hard for an english speaker but they are beautiful languages and not TOO hard :)

    good luck!!

German is the most similar to English although the grammar gets hard, but once you've understood it it's fine. If you want to start an easy second language then I recommend German.

all languages are EASY to learn POORLY.

If you want to get better, all languages are HARD.

If ease is your primary consideration, you will no doubt fail at the project, because when you come upon the first complication (and you WILL!), you will decide it's not worth the effort
