uniform traffic ticket virus or scam?

Has anyone gotten an email that say it's from "The New York State Police" saying that you are charged with a traffic violation in NY?..They provide date and time and a file to download and print and send to an address that they provide..Well if you do, just delete it because it's a virus..

Update:

Well Marv, I was concerned and I did call the NYPD and I was refered to their website where they were warning folks about this and they also caution everyone not to open this file because it's probably a virus! and yes it was address to me that's how I got it..

The email itself is not a Virus, it's a SCAM. (Though the file you download will probably load a trojan or virus on your computer.) I would imagine that you do not have your email address as part of your DMV file and then the question is posed: where did they get it? Do they address it to you by name or using something like 'Dear DMV Registered Owner"? All in all, if you REALLY are concerned, Call the new York State Police and ask them if they are doing such things. I'm pretty sure that the answer is no.

    Delete and move on.

answer this question. on your application, did you will possibly desire to placed your digital mail handle with the intention to resume or to get your license? because of the fact that while does the DMV deliver out emails touching directly to tickets? finally, did you do something to warrant you getting a value tag? until eventually you heard on each and all the information channel that the DMV has began emailing human beings (think of the charges incurred with that) then it is not actual. Delete, delete, delete
