does exercising affect your period?

i started exercising the beginning of this month everyday from 1-2 hours,will it affect my period,someone told me it will but i don't understand how

    When you exercise, it gets rid of and prevents you from having muscle cramps because you move so much. Also, it will cause your period to be lighter because your muscles don't have to contract so they dont produce as much blood for your period.

    it mainly gets rid of cramps and may make it a little lighter because the blood flow will be less restricted. at least that's what i've heard.

    It can and has effect on many women a lot of gymnists women don't even get there period.
