Is this name ok for a girl?

I don't understand your mentality, or anyone else who does the same as you, to be honest. Just because they're a 'Y' in a name does NOT mean it is suitable for a girl! And while I know that Merlyn it an ancient and also official spelling variant of Merlin; that does not alter the fact that it's still 'Merlin.' On a boy, the name is teased viciously and mercilessly both through childhood and adulthood. On a girl, I imagine her treatment to be just as bad, if not worse, because she'll have to endure taunts on how stupid you were for giving her such a name.

Plus, how bad do you think she'll feel when she has to stand next to her friends; Gina, Julia, Miley & Shauna - all with pretty, gender-explicit names while she's forever saddled with Merlyn?

Merlin is a 100% masculine name. I suggest you go back to the drawing board and find a name that is suitable for a girl - which mean, anything that's not a boy's name.

Uhm, Ariana is a lot better. Merlyn is a wizard. A wizard is a male. And if you make it a girl, that means she's a witch....

I don't like I because it reminds me of the wizard elf guy. I like the name Maryn it's kind of like Merlyn. (pronounced mar-in, rhymes with Karen.)

yeah it could be a girls name cause it sorta sounds like Marilyn, although the name kinda reminds me of a magician, don't ask me why.... but I think Merlyn Rayne sounds cute.
