Is there a way to keep the Canon 7D's mirror locked up between shots?
I am trying to get a time lapse set up to where I'm putting as little wear and tear on my camera as possible. I know how to get the mirror to lockup but after it does the first long-exposure, the mirror will go back down. I've read on multiple forums that you can do the LiveView but I do not want to drain the battery, nor have my sensor on for as many hours as I will have the camera outside. Thanks for any help!

The only way to lock the mirror up is in live view.
You are in the rarest situation of not needing to see through the viewfinder or the screen. For almost every shot ever taken you have to see what you are shooting, thus you have to see thru the viewfinder or the screen. If the mirror locked up it would block the view finder, this the screen is on...
The mirror isn't major wear and tear in the big scheme of things. It's the shutter that usually goes before the mirror mechanism.
