Atheists and Christians: really after the same thing?

The difference between modern religions and ancient ones seems to be that there is a move away from believing that a given person is absolutely right without question, and that Gods where hanging out on Earth, where they obviously aren't. Idols and kings are moved out of the way for more abstract things, things that you don't have to obey because you can reinterpret. Modern religions aren't as good at controlling people as, say, religions where the king is your god (Rome, North Korea, etc), and maybe that's the big move, the shift away from Magical thinking to reason. It's just that the Atheists don't want to preserve the feeling because it does not fit with the logic, and Christians don't want to reject years of history for something new that they don't really have any reason to care about. So I guess the question is, do you think that Atheists and Christians are really both rebelling against the same idea: tyrants who claim divine right? The "you can't tell me what to do because God is king, not you" that Christians have invoked, or the "You can't tell me that because it's it's wrong for mankind" that humanists prefer. Or are they too different to reconcile on this point, considering that both Atheists and Christians have been tyrants themselves?

Not really, because atheists are after reality, and christians do not care for it.

I think Christians and Atheists are more similar than the groups seem to realize, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that they were the same. Believing in a god and not believing in a god are still very, very different things.

I'm a Christian but I'm not religious. I have been in many churches where it was obvious they were star struck by their pastor and not truly following Christ. If you study the life of Christ it is an example of servitude to your fellow man, healing, raising the dead. He told us that believe that He gave us a new commandment and that is that we love one another. If you love you don't kill, if you love, you forgive unconditionally, if you love, you don't sleep with your neighbors wife, if you love, you don't steal, if you love you don't abuse other people. Not all who call themselves Christian are Christian. They may be religious but they are not Christian. We are commanded by Christ to live as He lived on earth. He said "Judge not lest you be judged yourself. For how you judge others you also will be judged by the Father." He said,"I came not into the world to condemn the world, but rather that through Me the world might be saved." For ever Christian that leaves the Church because of persecution five will leave due to prosperity. The Church was better off when it was illegal. Caesar Constantine made Christianity the legal and official religion of Rome because his mother had become a Christian. Was he going to throw his mother to the lions? There entered the state into Christianity, and there began the corruption. Pure believing Christians that refused to join the state sanction church were burned at the stake as heretics.

Saying that atheists and christians are both tyrants is such a bad play on words my friend. One is WAY worse. There have been more deaths in the name of your tyrant god than any other name in history.

You pretty much just equated Hitler with a petty theft, by saying "well they are both criminals", when one is CLEARLY worse.

I'm sorry, but are you trying to say that Atheism is a religion? That's an epic fail right there...

Also, there's been a rather unsettling resurgence among Christians to basically return to the "old" ways, where they are solely ruled by their religion...you know, like how such enlightened places like Iran are.

you ideal and not ideal intemediatary structures would or would possibly no longer have an impact. first occasion peacocks the colors, outragous tails for sure are a hinderance. however the ladies like it. as a results of fact of sexual determination the different of what could look the logical determination is what is going to become dominant. so the thought rudementary structers are inhibitory as a result illogical is strictly the element 2d occasion wings of grasshopper. from my zoology proffessor he mentioned the ideal concept so far is the wings began out as protusions of no longer basic shell and grew. the longer larger proturions helped guard the leg and air ducts. yet over the years as those grew larger for greater secure practices at last they grew to grow to be waiting to pick the flow. nicely now the lighter thinner allowed greater gliding. later to evolve into wings. so its no longer consistently a right away step. each and every so often it ought to circulate via many many procedures no longer understood or considered. there are maximum of aspects for christianity the concepts that its all a huge *** bounce of religion is basically propeganda. the biggest difficulty i think of for some human beings is the 7 day tale. nicely look lower back on church background and the early jewish instructors (the adult adult males who began this entire ingredient) didnt show it became literal. Pope Augustine (i beieve it became him honesty one pope starts to combination in with yet another, i didnt convey my books with me) wrote it became stupid to think of it as litteral. the push to show this and each thing interior the bible as one hundred% literal take all of it or no longer something got here whilst martin luthor broke off frm the church. lots of the bible that individuals have contridictions with are purely as relatively defined. yet few do the google seek for 'bible contridictions defined'... i do believe you that some on the two aspects stick to thier concepts blindly and could never settle for observing something that would challange thier ideals. many human beings do no longer care approximately discovering and starting to be purely in proving to all people else why they're marvelous... its the macho highschool penis waving. talkin out your butt, we see this everyywhere no longer purely right here. im beneficial yall have somebody at paintings who purely talkes and clearly has no concept of validity. it relatively is the reason many circumstances what you spot indexed under at the instant are not actual solutions purely airborne dirt and dirt and slogans thrown around.
