Would I get denied CA unemployment for one class?

I support myself, rent and bills. I also go to graduate school one night a week, 7pm to 945pm on Wednesdays. I just got done with the phone interview and the interviewer seemed perplexed that I would not want to drop my one class, and effectively drop out of college, to receive a job. I would feel that since it is only one night a week and later on in the night, employment should not be an issue. I have had a couple of interviews in a couple of weeks already, and would feel it would be highly extreme to deny me UI based on the fact that I have a night class.

any thoughts?
