If you tried gamestop, there's a good chance they didn't have it. my friend went to pre order it 3 weeks ago and the guy told him that gamestop ( As in the whole company) is no longer holding pre orders for the modern warfare 3 hardened edition. So what i would do is see if Best buy is holding any pre orders still. thats what i would do
