Should Lincoln bring back the Capri?
The ford focus coupe' cabriolet that is assembled by Pinninfarina and sold in Europe. I think they could make that into the new Lincoln Capri.
It has a lovely leather interior and a folding hardtop that retracts into the trunk.
The problem is if they sell it at American ford dealers as a focus, the price will seem like just to much to expect anyone to pay for a ford focus.
Perhaps with some more chrome, the Lincoln name, and a two tone paint job it could be the lincoln for people who want a small car with cachet and sportyness.
Lincoln is now what Lincoln-Mercury used to be. They are Putting the Lincoln name on cars that would have been called Mercury

They would never use the Capri name for a car like that, nor would they be likely to import anything like that. Ford's imports from Europe have never done well.

The 1st generation Mercury Capri was from ford of Germany. It was a very good car and it sold well for a few years in the 1970s.
The Lincoln Capri of the 1950s was not very successful.
They should give that a try. There must be a few Americans who would like a car with a Pinninfarina badge and a snazzy leather and aluminum interior.

I feel re-using the name on a modern Lincoln would evoke memories of the more recent Mercury Capri rather than the Real Lincoln of the 50's.

If you can afford a Lincoln, you can afford the fuel cost of a luxury car. Plus they are marketed for 35 and up; the ford focus is marketed for 18-25 age.
Are you old enough to remember the Cadillac Cimarron? It was a high class caviler; it was a disaster for Cadillac
