Why are we paying for renewal of drivers license in Malaysia?

In other countries, namely Australia,Singapore,US their citizens do not have to renew their drivers license anymore. They used to say maybe 5 years ago.But now, they have come to a stage, where renewal is not necessary anymore. Once you have obtained a drivers licensed,it never expires. Its permanent. The government is supposedly to be providing a service to its Citizen and not profit from them. Why dont the Najib administration move towards that direction instead of trying to squeeze every drop of blood from their citizens?Even passport renewal in other countries are done at very minimal cost, say for example in Singapore, its merely SGD 30 for a passport of 10 years expiry. And their citizens can actually just drop their passports off in their post boxes together with a bankers order and they will call you up to pick up say within a couple of days? Are we going in that direction?

In Tennessee you only pay a renewal value and that they deliver your renewal decal on your license. Now they make us get a sparkling image each fours years yet they do no longer supply us greater stations to pass to, so quite long traces.

You need to go back to your research. Australian licenses expire in 1, 2, and 5 year periods - you have to pay up to $300 to renew.

I am Australian and we have to pay to get all these things renewed as well. I think if what you is true then Singaporean are very lucky though there are many things there that you can get fined for.

If this is all you have to complain about then you are probably more well off than many people in your country and others.
