Thinking about buying a used car?

So I am going off to college next year and want to get a car. I have been looking online and these are some of my options:

2002 BMW 3-SERIES 325i SEDAN with 120,790 miles at $10,000

2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5 S with 159,540 miles at $6,000

2005 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT GLS with 77,409 miles at $10,000

2000 FORD EXPLORER XLS 2WD with 116,270 miles at $4,500

I like the Nissan altima because it is newer and nice, and at a good price. But is that too much mileage? I really like the Volkswagen too because it looks very new with few miles, but it is more expensive. The ford explorer is not as nice, but it is cheaper. Could you give me some pointers on what you think would be a good option?

As far as the BMW goes I wouldn't not buy it. 10K is alot to spend on a car that's 10 years old and has over 100K. Second, you can be sure you will have to make expensive repairs on this car.

The Nissan already has 159K on it, odds are it will not make it until you graduate college.

The Volkswagen has decent miles but according to customer reviews from Edmund's this car has alot of problems.

The Explorer has ok mileage and a fair price.

If I had to chose between the 4 I'd pick the Explorer. It's not got a ton of miles and it's a pretty good price, plus great customer reviews.

that bmw has too many miles for that year, and if it breaks down be prepared to pay a HUGE amount of

$$ to fix it, their expensive to fix in general.

altima has waaaaaay to many miles, if its in the 2001's and up its too much. my friggen malibu chevy is an 04 and has around 109,000 for crying out loud lol

ford has good miles but r u really down to be paying the gas its going to be indulging? lol if u go out a lot, its not that great >.<

id say go with the volkswagen, ^ for that lady who said that, doesnt necessarily mean ALL the volkswagen passat's have something wrong with them -.- plus their price to fix if they ever break down isnt all that bad. but just to make sure u should investigate if its in good condition, oil, motor, transmission ect...

actually do that for any car u buy! &go2Kelly's blue book.com u can look up any specific car and see how much it should be worth dependingon the year and condition and so on.

OH! and im guessing ur buying from a private party, so whenever u go look at cars, take some1 who knows cars -.- that way they'll help u if anything is wrong with it, because the people selling it can tend to lie sometimes.

somewhat low-priced tires on the marketplace are no longer a good thought. Tire mess united statesat extreme speeds might reason some severe harm to your care and you. New vehicles frequently contain tires that are rated way previous the speeds you would be going. if your not often recover from 70 miles an hour on the interstate then you definitely can get low fee tires. bypass to a very good tire broker and have him supply you a good fee on the suitable tire you elect for. The extra you wait the extra the fee will bypass up. Tires are created from oil. in any case you elect for good tires with good tread particularly with iciness drawing close. There are lesser usual manufacturers that are good tires. Continental Tires are probable the basically right for the fee.
