Which weapon should I focus on more?

I'm a new Wushu student and my coaches tell me that I'm improving at an insane rate for the few weeks that I've done it, so they're willing to teach me weapons earlier than they usually each beginners. I'll be competing alongside them at CMAT this year in University of Virginia, but I haven't picked a weapon yet and I don't know which one to pick.

My choices are straight sword, staff, and broad sword. I'm going to do all of them, but I want one to be my main focus and I want to know which one best suits a beginner like me. Thanks in advance.

Staffs are the best to start with, for several reasons one of the main ones is you can usally find one lieing around (stick or something), there is also less chances of a major injury for yourself when you accidently strike your body and in the beginning you will

My vote is for the staff. It's the mother of all weapons. Everything from the staff can be translated into all other weapons. It's the easiest to learn and the hardest to master. If you become well adapted with the staff, then you'll have no problem with most all weapons, only acceptation being flexible weapons, but even then not much is different except in feel and flow.

traditionally beginners are taught the staff first as for what one to focus on that is not something I can tell you

that decision has to came from you and the people you actually work with

the staff is first but open hands is your best and usually only weapon when facing an opponent.learn your forms.within them are all the applications you'll ever need

i suggest staff because it provides reach ( able to hit a person from further distance) also if u learn to use it properly you will be able to do more damage than a sword can do. It proves to be defensive and offensive and the reach realy helps alot.

but thats mu opnion, its ur chioce i just suggested believe wat u will
