do you mean brand? I like Bauer <3

    type is a little harder:

    -cup

    -shin pads

    -hockey socks

    -hockey pants

    -skates

    -shoulder/chest pad

    -elbow pads

    -jersey

    -gloves

    -stick

    -helmet

-neck guard (optional depending on league rules)

-mouth guard (optional depending on league rules)

    * I try to get a respectable brand of skates and stick (Bauer, Mission, Warrior, RBK) however, for the rest of the gear I just make sure it is good quality. I go to the same hockey store to get my equipment every time because I know that they know what they are talking about. Go to a skating store rather than Dick's because they will know more and you can trust them

Bauer is the brand that I use most, but I would recommend a CCM helmet. I also like Sherwood sticks. I have been seeing more and more Warriors out there, but the seem to have a strange curve in the blade and I'm not a fan. Mission skates aren't bad either.

This is what I prefer. All players will have different preferences depending on their body shape and what feels more comfortable to them. I'm sure if you go to your local sports store they'll let you try on the equitment. Just choose what feels most comfortable. If you aren't sure what you are doing ask an employee. They will recommend brands and they will also fit properly so you don't get equitment that is too big or small. You don't have to go big brand and fancy. Choose what works for you and what improves your gameplay.

    Good luck!

  • I play beer league hockey so I'm not exactly going high-end.

Helmet is a 2-year old Reebok with a Bauer visor. Our league now mandates visors.

Shoulder pads are older Bauer...not the body-armour stuff. I can't remember what brand my elbow pads are.

Pants are Tackla...had to buy new ones this year to fit my expanding posterior.

Shin guards are 8-year old JOFA/CCM. They work.

Sticks are CCM fibreglass. I refuse out of principle to buy a composite stick.

Skates are 8-year old CCM Pro Tacks (may buy new skates at some point).

Gloves are Bauer (my old CCM gloves were retired after 8 years).
