Does this mean Christians are obligated to eschew non-Christians?

2 John

7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds

Does this justify bigotry?

Update:

I know why bigotry means...do you know what cynical means?

As far as cherry picking goes...I doubt you'd call it cherry picking if I chose a more light-hearted quote, perhaps you should read it.

"A fools mouth is his destruction" - Leviticus 18:7.

The Gospel of John is not the most loving or tolerant of the Gospels.

There was a time when people calling themselves Christians burnt people at the stake, massacred thousand of non-Christians during and even before the Crusades.Engaged in Witch Hunts of innocent people.Even Today there are Christians whose Xenophobia reeks to High Heaven.

I admire your honesty and true faith to draw attention to bigotry which goes against everything that a person of Faith should apply in his dealings with others.

    May these efforts be blessed!

No, one is just not to participate in promoting false teaching. Hosting allows the teacher to continue their work.

Christians are to be ambassadors for Christ (2 Cor 5:11). This is impossible if avoiding all non-Christians. Christians are only worry about those who claim to be Christians but who refuse to live according to God's guidelines in serious areas (1 Cor 5:9-12). Believers are explicitly called to go into the lives of others (Matthew 28:18-20).

You can call it what you will but God is just and he has the right reasons for everything he does. You don't understand God without knowing him. You can know him through Jesus Christ. He has given you the chance. Pray and trust in him today!

Christians are not obligated to show God to anyone. We are obligated to pray for the lost and the saints, and to give the word out to the world. People have to reach out themselves for truth. God created in each one of us a measure of faith. Creation is obvious and if you want to credit evolution for something God did, then you are dishonoring God unjustly and rejecting him. Read John 3:1-21 to get the picture.

Hmm- you seem to be using the term "bigotry" in a negative, pejorative sense. You are deliberately cherry picking, then casting aspersions on Christians in general. I doubt you even know what the term "bigotry" means. Do you?

"Bigotry" is not synonymous with "eschewing." A bigot is just simply someone who is intolerant of other people's views. I like a lot of people that aren't Christians, and there are a few Christians that I do not really care for.

There are at least two logical fallacies in this question. Please try again.

One who "deceives" and one who simply doesnt believe isnt the same thing.

A deceiver knows better and teaches lies intentionally. Would I welcome THAT GUY into my house? No. But one who just doesnt believe could use all the company of believers he can get.

Notice the "if there come any unto you" -- to try to teach you, reject their teaching if it is not in accord with the received tradition of the Church. This does not say to avoid non-Christian friends. We are in the world; we are not to be "of the world", adopting ways contrary to the teachings of God. If your friends tend to make you sin, spend less time with them, or try to redirect their energies elsewhere. This friendship thing needs to work both ways.

    Blessings.

Ahh the boots of God speed.

Also don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers for what fellowship does light have with darkness.

No. Obviously the apostles spent time with non Christians or the church wouldn't have grown. John is merely saying not to accept them as part of the fellowship or adopt their doctrines.

It's ok really, I avoid christians, and I certainly don't take their opinions seriously anymore. It's unwise to trust people who have no sense of reality and fancy they receive messages from superbeings. That's just plain looney and you don't have to take looney people seriously. You just have to say "get out of the way of my car" .
