I want a bolt action rifle, scope mount, with iron sights?
I am looking to add a bolt action rifle to my collection. I was looking to the classic Remington 700bdl. in either 308 or 30/06. I would like a black synthetic stock, black bbl. A good quality, accurate rifle that will last for years.
so What do I buy? I cant seem to locate a rem 700 with a synthetic stock that also has iron sights.

Due to the prevalence of scopes, new 700s do NOT come with iron sights, but you can add them or order one with them.

That would be an excellent addition to any collection. The Remington 700 is exactly what you mentioned. Accurate, good quality and will last for years. As far as the calibers I personally prefer the 30-06 but the 308 is also an effective round. Both are widely available.
Here is a link to a ballistic calculator that you can plug in different calibers, weights and compositions that may help you decide. http://ballisticscalculator.winchester.com/
It appears that the new Remington 700 SPS and CDL rifles do not come with iron sites. My Rifle came with them but it was purchased in 2003. You may have to look at used rifles if iron sites are that important to you.

That's wonderful! What was your question?
EDIT: I don't think Remington makes a 700 with iron sites AND synthetic stock. They do make a BDL version with a nice Walnut stock and iron sites: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/2REM25793-1.html
Most people that want iron sights are traditionalists that want a wood stock as well, so I think you may be challenged to find a maker that makes your desired combo. Remington stocks can be purchased separately: http://www.remington.com/products/accessories/gun-... , so you can purchase the 700 BDL and replace the stock with a synthetic.

So just order one! They have a custom shop that will build a rifle to your specs. http://remingtoncustom.com/
