Age Restriction for Rated R Movies?

For R Rated movies they say you have to be 17+ or be with someone, does that someone have to be 17+ or what age do they have to be. Also don't say I'm too young to watch those movies because i'm turning 17 in two weeks but there is this movie I really wanna watch

Update:

I don't seem to understand you mark, do i have to go in with a person who is 17 or older or can someone who is an adult(which is what age) can buy the ticket for me?

    R – Restricted – Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent Or Adult Guardian. These films may contain mild or implied sex scenes, prolonged nudity, strong violence often with blood and gore, strong horror scenes and explicit/illegal/prolonged drug use. A movie rated R for profanity often has more severe or frequent swearing than the PG-13 rating would permit. An R-rated movie may have more blood, gore, drug use, nudity, or graphic sexuality than a PG-13 movie would permit. Some R-rated films have an "unrated" DVD release with scenes of violence, sexual material, or profanity that have been edited from the original cut. At its inception, the R certificate permitted patrons aged 16 and older to attend unaccompanied, but this was raised to 17 in the 1970s.

    {{{{In some theaters you only need a parents consent or a written form that you can go. For our theater my brother needs to be dropped off by said adult so they can quick go in and sign a form saying they consent. Usually the age of accompanied is 21}}}}

    These rated R movie ticket rules can answer any tricky questions you might have about screening a more adult film at a movie theater. The ticketing rules can be complicated at times, especially if you are planning to bring an older children to a rated R film and don’t want them to be refused entrance.

    R Means Restricted According to the MPAA, an R rating signals that the movie contains several adult situations, such as violence, drug use, sexuality, and profanity. The restricted rating means that no one under the age of 17 will be admitted into an R-rated movie without a parent or guardian who is over the age of 21.

    Parental Presence At most movie theaters, anyone under 17 must have a parent or guardian buy the tickets, escort them to the theater, and watch the entire movie with them. This means that parents or guardians cannot simply buy a rated R movie ticket for someone under 17 and then drop them off alone.

    Use Discretion The MPAA encourages parents or guardians to look up or screen the particular rated R movie before bringing a minor with them. You should factor the child’s age into your decision; an older teenager usually might find the material suitable, but young children should not ever be brought to a rated R movie, for their own benefit and also as a courtesy to other adult moviegoers, who don’t want a child interrupting the film. If you're not sure if your teenager should view a particular movie, you might want to wait until the film is released on DVD. That way you can simply stop the movie if it becomes inappropriate, rather than have to leave the theater and waste two tickets.

    The adult has to be in the movie with you and i'm pretty sure the adult can't be 18 but sometimes they'll let you buy it yourself bc you're almost 17.
