Maybe some of the drink sank ad smerged inside the screen. If its only doing that on the homescreen, then that might not be the case.
In some cases, it might be the battery, if it is, then save up for a new battery(no need to buy another ipod), then when you have enough money saved, take your ipod to the Apple store and ask them to put a new battery in for you.
Best wishes and luck! :) x
P.S. When you get it fixed, PLEASE buy a cover and screen protector for it.

Get a bowl of rice and put your phone in the middle of it. Leave it over night and if the phone still isn't working you better get saving for a new iPhone!
The rice will absorb any water in your phone, but if the damage inside has already been done you don't have much luck.

Take the case off, or whatever, and hairdry it for 10 minutes, leave the ipod off then for a good few hours, dont touch it, then turn it on.
