How do I do in-line citations for Goethe's Faust in MLA format?
I am having trouble understanding how to do the in-line citations for Goethe's Faust for an essay I am writing. I looked up MLA format for classic drama and found I am supposed to list title of the play, the act, scene, and line numbers. The example given was (King Lear 4. 1. 52-53) if I was doing an essay on King Lear by Shakespeare. That much I understand....
BUT Faust doesn't have acts and the scenes have names not numbers... so, do I, for example, cite it as (Faust Night. 265-267) or do I number the scenes myself so that it reads (Faust 2. 265-267) AND if I do assign numbers to the scenes myself does the "prologue" get a scene number? EX. 1=prologue, 2= Night, 3=Before the City Gate... OR Prologue, 1=Night, 2= Before the City Gate, etc. ?
THANKS

Cite in basic terms the information superhighway internet site you used. That replace into your source. think of of this analogy: you consulted a textbook as area of your study. on the returned of this textbook are 7 pages of references that the e book's authors consulted as they have been writing the e book or quoted in the e book. could you cite the textbook or the textbook plus the 7 pages of references?
