Depends on the person itself, if one do not believe in candle lighting then don't burn a candle if one believe in such offering then do so buy candle and burn one. All I can say is live and let's live. Why not share the same planet with each and everyone of us. Why create conflict when we should be sharing either beliefs or other things under the sun.

Pardon me, but not all Christians practice lighting candles when they pray. Protestants like Baptist, Church of the Nazarene, Pentecost etc. do not practice it any more. I was a Roman Catholic before I got converted to Church of the Nazarene, I think the practice dates back to the so called " Burnt Offering " in the old testament. Personally, I believe whatever practices a Christian does as long as it is not contrary to what the Bible says it should be respected, after all we worship the same God. Now, regarding your question if its convincing, it all depends on what particular Religion you are in right now.

You can not even convince me that there is a god, all these traditions, practices, customs its all senseless more so without basis from the allegedly holy book.

If the god is all knowing and supposedly he knows what you need before you even ask it... then why do you need to pray?

If prayers are really answered then why those children in Africa die of hunger, they do pray to god.

If prayers are really answered then why those being raped has to suffer from the hands of the rapist and be killed afterwards, they call on to him for help.

If prayers are really answered then why innocent people have to die, caused by suicide bombers who shout his name before pulling the trigger.

If prayers are really answered then why still there is war and chaos, while millions pray for peace!

You spirit is candle itself. Why burn so many candles as if you burn your money. Those activities are business. candles, flowers, mass for the dead.

candles was introduced by the spaniards. it was a huge business for them, fooling filipinos. but still today, we are fkcng fools to do it

yes, it is.. it's really more like a tradition now since we always do that every Nov. 1. (I'm a Filipino by the way. ^^)
