Intelligent Design believers: What's up with the eye?
If we were designed by an "intelligent" designer, why do our flawed eyes see such a small band of the entire light spectrum? I mean, wouldn't we benefit greatly from being able to see UV, X-rays, Gamma rays, and other frequency energy that... y'know... can kill us? Why would God not give us a way to see these dangers? Or is he just not a very good engineer?

I hope someone starts a campaign to rebrand Intelligent Design as Stupid Design, a far more accurate description.
@Creation Detective, saying 'sin is the cause of flawed vision' is really only going to convince us of how ridiculous the idea of creation is. When did God say "and now thou art blind (to most of the light spectrum), because thou hath sinned"? or anything similar?

Why would we need to see all of this? God designed us to have all the things we would need. Just cause you don't have x ray vision, doesn't mean God is an unintelligent designer. Plus, after the human race fell, things got messed. the perfect creation was no longer perfect.
Plus when God originally designed us he didn't design us to die, so the ability to see all these rays weren't necessary

You seem to be forgetting a basic truth, fretless:
We´re not spirit beings like God, Jesus and the angels. We´re FLESH AND BONES.
If our ears could hear all frequencies, we would have 'noise pollution.'
I f our eyes could see all wavelengths, we would be victims of 'electromagnet pollution' or 'energy pollution.'
In other words, being exposed to some of these energies, would render us blind. Once the glorified, resurrected Jesus appeared to Saul of Tarsus. What happened to him?
Acts 9:3:
Now as he was traveling he approached Damascus, when suddenly A LIGHT FROM HEAVEN FLASHED AROUND HIM, 4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him: “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” 5 He said: “Who are you, Lord?” He said: “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting....But Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were opened HE WAS SEEING NOTHING.
Therefore, since we´re not spirit beings nor individuals made of metal, it´s a blessing we don´t see energetic particles who could harm us or render us blind.

Its simple. Don't go out in the hot sun and use sun screen if you have to. Use a good pair of UV proof sun glasses.
Don't connect every thing to God.

It's called optimal (not optical) engineering. You can have a laptop with 50 terabytes of capacity, but it would weigh 40 pounds. You could have one that has a 6' screen, but it would be a little hard to throw into your hatchback.....that is optimal engineering, and god would intelligently do the same.

Either god is a very poor designer, or they evolved to fit the environment we call The Earth.

99% of everything that ever lived on earth is now extinct. God is not just bad, but an utter failure as a designer.

Also, other animals have better eyes than we do like the squid and birds of prey.

Our eyes are only flawed because of the fall of man. Humans were perfect physically before sin entered our world.
