I received some stamps I didn't order through the mail. May I keep them?

I ordered : "free, three US stamps" from a flyer. I got them, along with 6 sets of other stamps , marked about four dollars apiece, and a bill. I didn't see any written contract obligating me to pay for these or send them back. I know the law varies by state. Can I keep them all without paying?

This is a real bummer as they were for my nephew's Christmas. I can't afford to pay for the others right now.

Update:

What I was afraid of. But, I signed nothing. I have seen their ads for decades, it seemed too "good" to be true. They always show nineteenth-century stamps, you get Calvin Coolidge airmails.

I had a "BMC" give me a bad mark on my credit report.Something about a Best of Chicago DVD I never ordered or got.. I didn't know it was there until 3 months ago. It's been there 5 years. BMC has a lot of complaints, anyway. I know the "stamp act" here will try the same thing.

Hi, Johnny. That was really pathetic, the way you sent me a nasty, stupid note and then changed your settings so I could not respond. How unmanly! I should not waste time on an obvious moron, but did you ever stop to think that there is a difference between a "search" and a "strip search"? I am so embarrassed for you!

As for the stamps, I am surprised you are asking since you claim to know everything, but it all depends upon what it said in the ad and what you agreed to. Can you read? "Not seeing" the contract is a poor defense.

You cannot keep them without paying. You CAN dispute the charges. First call the company and explain that an error has been made and ask how they would prefer you to return the stamps to them. If they insist that you must pay for them, dispute the charge with your bank so they don't charge your credit card without your permission.

Sorry but you obligated to buy for them. If not they can put it on your credit report and turn it over to a collection agency which can add additional fee's and interest to it.

You never get anything free. There is always some small print somewhere telling you that you have to buy something to get anything "free".
