McAfee Security Problem?

I suppose it's too late now that I've uninstallled it, and I'm good enough a troubleshooter (and fairly broke at the moment) to not want to pay for anti-virus. But, anyway. I had a serious problem with the free McAfee Anti-virus Security on my laptop. I like Google Chrome so I immediately downloaded it and uninstalled Internet Explorer. Then for about 3 months it was working fine when all of a sudden it wouldn't load Google Chrome. At first I took it like every other "DSL error" and un-plugged the router, but after trying that, and every other possible problem, I realized that my anti-virus had blocked it without confirming with me. I added it to the list of "allowed programs" and it STILL wouldn't let me on. I then decided that it was being troublesome and uninstalled it. Has this happened to anyone else, and could I have handled it differently?

Be sure it really is McAfee i came across a fake McAfee virus/program that totallyed screws your computer. Wont let you un-install it completely and you cant install other virus scanners unless u beat it.

I suggest Kaspersky, its only free for 30 days, but its the way to go. worth the money if you buy a years subscription.

    McAfee sucks.

McAfee and Norton are the worst antivirus programs.

Best pay antivirus programs are BitDefender or ESET Nod32.

The best free antivirus is Avast. Avira is also good, but Avast is better.

Install 2 antivirus programs, one to run at all times as live, active protection scanner and another just for on demand scans when you have doubts about any file.

Also install MalwareBytes, at least the free version.

You will also need a good firewall. Install Zone Alarm or Comodo Firewall (both are free).

Windows firewall sucks, and to prove it, please download and run this little utility called Firewall LeakTest

Install CCleaner to clean your registry keys and other unwanted stuff.

For your web browser, use either Firefox Mozilla or Google Chrome.

DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER (IE), as it is the worst browser, and it can be easily attacked and infected.

Also install the WOT (Web of Trust) tool to your browser. It rates all websites, blocks access and also alerts you when you open an unsafe website, thus preventing any internet attack or virus infection.

    Good luck.
