Funny or thoughtful comebacks to 'it is what it is'?

Like, 'or is it pretending to be something totally different just to confuse you?'

Or, 'or is it the consequence of someone else's poor planning....or lack thereof?'

I'm trying to come up with lots of funny/thoughtful comebacks for this saying.
