In the interests of fostering christian/atheist relations...?
I propose a challenge.
I'm interested in how well each of the camps (atheist and christian) know each other's worldview. Are they operating on generalisations they've been taught, or do they really have a handle on what the other group believes?
How well do you know your opponent's position?
If you're a christian, please post an answer explaining what atheists actually believe, and arguing why people should adopt this worldview.
Conversely, if you're an atheist, please post an answer explaining what christians believe, and arguing why people should adopt that worldview. I'm sure former christians like myself will probably have an advantage. :)
I know I'm gonna get some epic trollin', but for those of you who have a legitimate shot at it, I know I'll be really entertained with your answers.
I think that part of understanding others requires developing an ability to empathise with them, and their position. And if not for that, just the fact that you understand the opposing side's point of view is an asset when arguing your own case. I'll check in on the answers after I've finished watching the ManBearPig episode of South Park. Let the onslaught begin!

I'm a Christian who was once an Atheist, so I'll be posting about Atheists:
The first Atheists were Satanists incognito whose purpose was to fool man into becoming Atheist so that Satanists could conquer the world. (If you're with God, who can be against you? So it is necessary for the Satanists to first trick man into separating himself from God so that he could be conquered.)
So the majority of people who call themselves Atheists now are just the fooled people, but there is still the active majority who are still incognito Satanists. When I use the term Satanist, I don't mean people who worship Satan; I mean people who rebel against God and try to take other people with them to Hell just as Satan is doing. People who worship Satan=Satan worshipers.
Religion is a person's understanding of the world/universe and how it works.

Any christian who posts what "atheists believe" is already wrong -- there are no beliefs in atheism.

Ah, Well Travelled Prog, my enemy... here you are trying to redefine words just as Satan does. This guy is a good example of a Satanist incognito. He's also a pseudo intellect.
See, one of the ways Satanists lure people into Atheism is by fooling them into thinking it's the logical opposite of religion while claiming that religion is illogical.
Religion is a person's understanding of the world. The opposite of understanding is confusion.
What prog actually proposes sounds more like Anarchism than Atheism. That just goes to show how confused he is.
So be a rebel without a clue and give God a big ol' punch in the nose by telling him to his face that he does not exist when you join Atheism. Yay for non-existence.
Atheism: The religious belief in a spontaneous, causeless, sourceless, purposeless, meaningless existence.Atheism is not the mere lack of religion. It is the active denial of the existence of God. This active ignorance is the very thing they claim they hate about all other religions, making them hypocrites. Given an infinite universe, it is impossible to prove the non-existence of anything. It is always amusing to note that knowing only this one fact, logically, between an Atheist with proof and God, the Atheist is more likely not to exist.
In fact many people are simple too apathetic to discover the term that is most appropriate to their religious beliefs. Someone who acknowledges that God exists but simply does not believe it is possible to get to know God on a personal level is an Agnostic. Someone who does not believe it is possible to prove anything is a postulatist. Someone who chooses not to have any religious belief is stupid, ignorant, or naive. (Keep in mind that religion=world understanding.)
Science is a religion. I was indoctrinated into the Science religion as a child in the public school system. I learned from school that God was unimportant since he was never mentioned in school and certainly was never on any test.
Dr. Richard Thompson:
"Basically what you find is something we call a knowledge filter. This is a fundamental feature of science. It's also a fundamental feature of human nature. People tend to filter out things that don't fit, that don't make sense in terms of their paradigm or their way of thinking. So in science you find that evidence that doesn't fit the accepted paradigm tends to be eliminated. It's not taught, it's not discussed, and people who are educated in scientific teachings generally don't even learn about it." 7:24

From what I know atheists do not believe in any form of a God being involved in the making of this world or holding any place in it at all. I also know; to the best of my knowledge, that atheists have a scientific view upon the world. Some of their theories include the Big Bang upon others that I am not familiar with. Atheists also believe that you can have morality without religion which I believe as well. Im not going to attempt anyone to sway towards one side or another, so I am opting out of the second part of your question.

well, since "Christians" have so many varying sects, it's hard to say what they believe, as it differs from individual to individual, with "God" often believing what they individual believer does.
BUT....some of the basics as I understand it.....
Adam and Eve let 'sin' into the world. Ever since, man has been living in sin.
Jesus died on the cross as the "ultimate sacrifice" so that we could go to Fairyland......er...heaven. lol. the non believers go to some fiery never ending torment.
I guess if it gives some people comfort, that may seem like a good reason for them to adopt such a worldview, but I wouldn't recommend this sugar cookie when I feel it's laced with poison.

Hmm, well giving the atheists position is very quick but the Christian ....... So many denominations and all believeing something different. Some believe in Hell and some don't. I prefer the ones who don't and so don't abuse their children. They believe that Christ was the son of god and many of them believe he wanted us to love each other and be good to each other but some don't - some quote the whole thing about him not coming to change the old order and use this to justify the subjectifying of women and oppression of gays. Mary and saints? Some believe they intercede and some don't. All Christians going to Heaven or just 144,000? Some accept evolution and some don't. Very hard to get a handle on Christians for this reason.

Any christian who posts what "atheists believe" is already wrong -- there are no beliefs in atheism.
And talking about "generalizations..." Since there are over 30,000 different christian sects, none of which agree with the others about much of anything, it's not possible for me to make any accurate statement about what "christians" believe that would apply to all of them. The only reasonable thing to do is take individual claims within individual sects one at a time. And with literally hundreds of thousands of such claims, there's certainly not room to do that here.
Peace.

i replaced into raised in a city that at one time replaced into thoroughly segregated A federal decide compelled us to desegregate the same old public faculties and the city gave us 2 selections... the two visit a college they compelled you to (frequently by potential of bus) that they built-in for you OR % a magnet college that particularly expert in an a situation of pastime to you. I went to a grammar college for the proficient and gifted(Brainiacks) and a highshool for seen and Preforming Arts(Like "repute") . I had to be prevalent into each and each college via IQ assessments and auditions. not in undemanding terms did we convey all of us jointly from all varieties of backgrounds, and races, yet we've been given mind-blowing educations and adventure in our chosen profession fields. Clicks have been lots looser and overlapped- people mixed and mingled and all of us discovered to love each and each others adjustments. This surpassed off in adolescence... we grew up devoid of hate for different racial or non secular communities and many different towns in usa mimicked this concept. it particularly works!!

Christians believe in god, sin, hell and heaven, punishment and reward in the afterlife. Atheists do not believe in any of that, they believe this is the one life we get so live it well, and to do good because it's the right thing to do with no expectation of a reward when their dead.

I am a Christian and I believe that God said it best when He told us in 1 Corinthians 2:14The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
