What did you think of ESPN's coverage of the Breeder's Cup?

I thought it was kind of boring. Half way through Saturday's races I switched to TVG for between race coverage and found them to be a lot more enthusiastic and excited about the races, and a lot more informative and insightful. After the Classic, one of the TVG announcers, evidently a Drosselmeyer fan, was a bit quiet and eventually said he was just "stunned", which probably summed it up for most of us. :) I'm not saying that Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey don't know what's going on, they were just not very enthusiastic.

I agree, and more than not I watch Stake Races on TVG..however, some may not of known the BC was on TVG considering it was the very first time the Breeders’ Cup races aired live on TVG, see the Breeders' Cup has never been shown on any network other than the primary Breeders’ Cup broadcaster before. In fact TVG's president and Ceo Stephen Burn stated it marked a milestone for their network. The two-days on TVG totalled 14 hours. I do like Jerry Bailey, for he really does know horse racing, however, he has a no non-sense straight forward facts way about him..he is far from an actor and is quite monotone, so having a single unvaried tone screams lack of enthusiasm..so, again I agree. Randy Moss has a dry sense of humor and is a clown, he's actually is quite funny at times. Hank the Bank is soooo annoying..lol..with that TVG was my choice as well.. :)

I watched most of the races via the UK website At the Races. I guess they picked up the feed from ESPN (certainly we had Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey and another? commentating). Actually I enjoyed the profiles because for the most part, I didn't know the owners, trainers etc. But I find American racing boring, period, to be honest. Fine animals and I love seeing them, but I can't get into oval racing, and all these section times. I prefer the UK tracks, with the hills, valleys, twists and turns in both directions. It makes, in the longer races, for far more tactical racing - all this belting from the gates to the wire? Pointless. Too much razzmatazz for it all to be over in a flash. And this year, too much Coolmore/Ballydoyle for me LOL.

And why run Goldikova again ...... it would have thought her performance this season in Europe would have suggested it was time to retire her - much as I suppose there was always the temptation to try one more time, just in case she still have one last push left in her. Sometimes I think owners and trainers just get too greedy. At least she came home sound!

They fill in time between races with to much personal history in the life of horse trainers and the owners struggles to get where they are in the lofty stakes raceing business. If they want to make it interesting how about just doing historys best horse raceing match ups. I'm not much for sob storys about old trainers of high stakes horses. I dont like it when they casually bump into a trainor with his family on the way to the saddling up paddock area and ask well Mr. Baffert what do you think of your horses chances today? Or when a jockey wins a race the girl on a horse with a mic rides up and says to the winning jockey hey great race. How do you feel about winning this race? There is to much up close and personal. I know they have to fill in time somehow though I guess.

I feel it's rude/bad taste to call American Racing boring..best not to comment like that as we here in this category show respect for UK whether we find it satisfying or not...

I watched the ABC / ESPN coverage, only option I have, and I don't mind because I tried to get other things done between races...I'm accepting of whatever only because I don't get to see racing all that often on TV..so when it's on I'm happy. All the announcers seemed drunk to me..except Jerry Bailey..who lacks luster, but I respect him, and besides he doesn't owe me anything..he was an awesome Jockey who had great mounts that I bet on often..
