There were 600 kids on a field. 30% were boys (which is 180boys). After 5 new teams of boys joined the group on the field, the percentage of boys increased to 40. How many total boys were there in the 5 new teams added?

( I understand the answer is 100 boys, 20 being in each new group. All i need is an EXPLANATION pls)

Actually, I got 60 new boys, 12 in each group. To find percentage you take the original number (600) and multiply it by the percectange in decimal form (30% is .30) so 600(.30)=180 boys. If the percentage becomes 40%, you multiply the original (600) by the 40%.. 600(.40)=240. take 240-180=60. there are 60 new boys, 60/5= 12.(:
