Herbal Remedies for PMS/PMT?
I never thought I had PMT but more recently I have noticed how depressed I am feeling and emotional.
I started thinking that I was becoming seriously depressed and then realised that I only felt bad for 1.5 - 1 weeks prior to my period starting and then I felt much better.
I would really like to try a herbal remedy rather than going to the doctor - can anyone suggest anything good.
Please note - I am not allergic to anything but I am trying for a baby with my husband so don't want to take anything that might affect this.
Thanks

The problem with natural or herbal remedies is that in order for them to not cause any side effects, means that they probably don't actually do anything but act as a placebo. It might make you feel a bit better but you end up potentially spending a fair bit of money on something that isn't actually doing anything.
If they do have an effect, then they are on a par with any chemical, pharmaceutical or otherwise; they will make changes in your body and have the possibility of side effects. In that case it would be worth talking to your doctor about what supplements you take. Just because something is 'herbal' doesn't automatically mean it is safe or won't react with you badly, after all most modern medicines are derived from herbal remedies that have been used for years upon years, e.g aspirin is willow bark with the useless bits taken out.
If you don't want to take medicine, that is a personal choice and entirely up to you. I don't think that should rule out seeing your doctor, if you really feel terrible during the week before your period, it may be possible that you could see a therapist or councillor? They could give you strategies for dealing with depression to lessen it's impact. You could also look for books on CBT?
Hope this helps.

Firstly, I like to say that I respect your choices as to choosing something natural! I prefer to use natural remedies over harmful prescribed pills or medication. Herbs go back as old as ancient civilization and is really effective and healthy for your body. you'll have to excuse my narrowing down information of these herbs because they are very complex when it comes to explaining. Another complexity is from each herb explored throughout the world and each have a scientific explanation as to how each herb reacts to the body.
You can try;
St. John Wort which can help with anxiety or depression.
Valerian, that can help you relax and sleep.
Skullcap can help you with nervous tension as well like stress or disease.
Try this website, http://www.herbal-supplement-resource.com/herbs-fo...
it lists more herbal remedies that can aid you. You can find some of these plants or flowers at your local supermarket, wholefoods supermarket or even Asian markets. Depending where you live and if there is still warm weather out, you can go to a flower shop. And if your lucky enough, some of these herbs can be at no cost from just simply looking around outside, keeping your eyes peeled for flowers or plants.
To use these herbs, you can make tinctures or rinse and air dry, then use some of the leaves for tea!
