Can someone explain biometrics?

Can someone please explain biometrics to me? Also does it cover both the united states and the country of birth? Thank you in advance

    Your biometrics appointment involves having your fingerprints scanned and a picture taken, this is so they can perform a criminal background check to make sure that you are not a wanted criminal. Its very simple and nothing to be worried about!

    biometrics are your finger prints the send your prints to the FBI to check your record before they make a decision

    They take your fingerprints and picture. They will run your fingerprint in their data base to see if you have any criminal records. Only in the US unless you did a major crime in your birth country and wanted there. If you fail, your application will be denied.
