Opinion on Women in combat arms?
Yesterday i met a young woman who is currently in the national guard, MP i believe. We got to talking and i told her i recently enlisted as an 11x and im currently awaiting my ship date. This led her to go off on her whole rant about how women should be let into Combat Arms. I didn't agree and we had a slightly heated discussion. She thinks that women are physically and mentally strong enough, which i don't agree with.
What are your opinions on this topic? I would love to here from both sides.
Thank You!
lol @ u Marine, im not a troll. Im just curious on other peoples opinions. Don't know why that qualifies me as a troll.

Basically, take my answer from here and apply. You'll have higher numbers of women who can keep up with the physical requirements (1 in 100,000 vice 1 in 1,000,000), but still not enough to really make up for the difference in getting them through training, changing training requirements to allow for females in terms of berthing/billeting, changing gear/equipment load out to redistribute, etc.
And again, I would love to hear anyone give me a reason to put women into combat arms that basically doesn't boil down to "It's not fair." How does bringing women into Combat Arms make Combat Arms better? How does it make the infantry a better fighting force? That's a question I've never heard answered.

Women are NOT allowed in Combat Arms, yet. They are really trying to go forward with it now that DADT is gone, Congress is motivated to abolish other things. I believe in the next 5 years, women WILL be in Combat Arms. I myself do not care, but if men carrying 100+ pounds of gear are injuring themselves from collarbone fractures and leg fractures, think how much more it will be on a woman's body. Only women I can see really getting into CA are female Marines (there are some rough looking women). I have also seen women cry rape (but that's because she said it was small and unsatisfying and he wanted to finish) If I was to give women an MOS, it would be Artillery or Mortar(women). @wraeth ~ I always wondered why there are female CE in the Marines but not in the Army, what do they do differently? CE are not attached to Infantry units so maybe that's it

I have to agree with "always"...but would like to be REALLY Blunt...
Female Biology is such that you have a PERIOD once a month...
Hence you are a severe liability in the field during that time...
To some this may sound gross, I, don't care...as it can cost lives !!!!
Grunts/Special Ops use Cover and Concealment just to stay alive...
A female can not do that...as her Scent gives her away to every
wild/domesticated male animal and/or War Dogs...
and would lead the Enemy straight to you...and whomever you are with !!!!
There are places for Females but not in the Field...
There was a Female Sgt MP that was awarded a "Silver Star"
for protecting the Convoy she was assigned to...
(Don't think I would want to Piss her off...)
That being said...
I think you are a TROLL !!!!

I don't know why they get so offended. They can believe what they want, but I have yet to meet a woman who can pick up an injured fully grown man with all of that gear while being shot. Or carry a heavy rucksack and go on a 12 mile march. No offense to them but the female body wasn't built for that. Alot of them have trouble understanding that.

I'm a female, I'm a soldier I love what I do, but I do NOT have any problem whatsoever NOT being in combat arms.
While some women want to do this, there is a vast majority of us that do not, and have no issue with being valuable as support. To each her own, but I think that if they ever change that ruling, women that want to be in combat should do so IF they want to, but not mandatory.

Whether you like it or not women end up on the front line in non combat roles, ie medics, so they are already exposed to the danger. If a woman can achieve the required standards why shouldn't they be allowed?

I don't think the issue is really whether they are physically and mentally fit. That is and individual question that applies to men also. To me the real issue is what happens when they are in danger or captured??? What will an American male do? Can we place the mission first and leave her behind? Sorry to say fellows but its not them with the problem...its us.

Its OK them fighting, alot of French and Dutch women did some shooting during the last war but if caught they were raped and tortured you can't be on the winning side all the time

If they can pass their training and role requirements with the same proficiency as a male counterpart, then they are qualified to perform those tasks. I don't care whether they're female if they can do the job.

When women can carry their own weight then they should be allowed. Until then, no. They rely on other men to carry their packs. Once they can complete a 3 mile hike without falling behind, needing to grab the pack of a male in front to pull her along or have another male carry her stuff then let them. But again, until I see a female able to keep up with males they shouldn't be allowed. And no I'm not sexist, I'm a female and don't want other females holding everyone back on a mission or whatever it may be because they can't carry their own weight putting everyone in harms way.
*end rant*
