Samsung A711 mobile not detected by notebook?
I've had a Samsung A711 for a few years, but have never been able to get any of my computers, laptop or otherwise, to detect it. I tried downloading the software from the Samsung (couldn't find it on the site) and from other sites on the net. I managed to download Samsung PC Studio 7 last night, but the "Get Connected" function just searches and searches for the phone and never detects it.
I have many, many photos stored on my phone I haven't been able to download ever, and would really like to finally do this, but currently Samsung are making me very, very sweary, and I'm having great difficulty suppressing it all into 'bum'.
Can anyone help? Be advised I'm pretty analogue and own three record players. Some of this stuff is a bit beyond me.
Thanking anyone in advance! :) Cheers!

My Samsung A737 is similar to your phone in that it can take an external memory card, has bluetooth, and can be connected via a USB cable.
You did not mention how you were trying to connect, either with bluetooth wireless or with the USB cable.
If you are trying with the USB cable and you are using Windows on your computer and windows does not detect new hardware, then I would suspect that the cable is defective.
If you are trying to connect via bluetooth, then you must have bluetooth on your computer to be able to make this connection. This is hardware which you may not have installed.
Your phone can take a microSD expansion memory card up to 2GB in capacity. This is the easiest way to transfer your photos off your phone.
Alternatively you could text them to an email account if you have internet service on your phone. If someone you know has a phone that can make a USB connection to your computer and that phone has bluetooth, you could transfer the photos to that phone and then to your computer.
You could try buying a new cable for your phone.
The most difficult connection for non-technical type people to figure out is Bluetooth.
It will usually ask you to enter a 4 digit code both on the computer side and the phone side at about the same time. Just always enter 0000. That's 4 zeros. In many headsets the factory default is 4 zeroes. If the code is not the same or if you take too long to enter it, then the connection will not be established.
The bottom line: I think you have a defective cable.
