Tubular secretion occurs in the second convoluted tubule or distal convoluted tubule of the nephron. Certain substances like potassium ions, metabolites of drugs and foreign chemicals are secreted into forming urine in distal convoluted tubule. The deposition of potassium ions and other chemicals into distal convoluted tubule occur against concentration gradient (from low to high concentration) by spending energy by the cells of distal convoluted tubule is known as tubular secretion.
