Without water what ever you use to wipe it off will act just like sandpaper because of the grit in the dirt.

You want to use water to clean a car.

Without using water you just rub dirt and grit in, which has a similar effect to sandpaper, which is of course not good for the vehicle.

If you are worried about water consumption or cost, go to a local car wash (automatic or not) and do it there.

Otherwise, use your own water or go to the car wash anyways.

    hope this helps

if you just wipe the dirt off it will scratch the paint. sure it,s possible to wipe the dirt out if you don,t mind having scratched paint.
