i really love a guy but he doesn't like me back PLEASE HELP!?

Question

I know you people get all these type of questions almost every day but I really need help! We're in the first year of highschool. I'm a geek.. not particularly pretty and am top set for my year. he's really good looking though he isn't the kind who knows it and is in one class below me so pretty clever too. we're best friends but i really wish it was something more. we tell eachother everything. he wanted to know who i loved so i got my other good friend to tell him that it was him. it was really awkward but it didn't change anything between us and we're still best friends. he told me who he fancied and it was a really pretty, really nice girl who is also really clever. I didn't expect it but i was really sad when he told me and now I'm really down all the time even though i knew before that he didn't like me back. I had a dream that we were going out last night and cried when i woke up and found it wasn't real. I love him so much and really want to go out with him and us to be together and i can't get over him because i'm the kind of person that when I love i love for ages. please help what do i do sorry about the long story but i needed you to get the whole picture. what do i do i've tried being the best friend to him that i can and i'm going to carry on but i get really depressed when i think that he doesn't love me back. what do I do?

as much as i love your answer Rebecca I really wish it was that easy. i'm trying to get over my love for him but i will continue to be his friend because he's not the problem its my silly but hard-to-get-over feelings for him and i will continue to be his friend because of this

I honestly think that being his friend is just going to make it harder to stop loving him even though he's your best friend. And if he's your best friend,  that's another reason why you should try to preserve your friendship. And I don't want to give you false hope but from what I've seen, best friends tend to always end up together. But for now, try to not see him in that light :) just try to separate yourself or meet other guys. And I compare myself to other girls but don't feel insecure, you're best friends which means he thinks you're great ^__^

Okay this is a classic case that a lot of people get, so trust me, you are not alone! The healthiest thing for you to do right now is to think about yourself. By liking this guy, you are not doing yourself any good at all. And i know it's easier said than done, but you have to get over him. Get rid of the glimmer of hope inside you that something is going to happen. Go out, meet some new guys, because trust me, there are 7 billion people on this planet, and that guy is one of the maaaany boys that will be in your life. You are a beautiful person, and you deserve someone who loves you. Good luck!

Like Rebbeca said you need to try and get over him however i'd ask him the person he likes name because the description he said sounds like how you described yourself.
