Best way to get "beach" waves?

I have naturally straight hair and it's very frustrating trying to get waves in my hair. I have tried braiding my hair overnight while it was wet, but I don't the like the results I get from braiding because the ends of my hair go all crimply and odd looking. I don't particularly want to use heat on my hair either. I have also used this scrunching spray from Sally's from the brand Beyond the Zone, but it doesn't really work and I have to scrunch my hair for like an hour, while it's wet, untill I get waves!

Does anyone know of any good products or methods that would actually help me achieve beach waves?

I want waves not curls, by the way!

If you don't want to pay for any expensive things then try this...

    1. Wash your hair and towel dry it after

    2. Brush your hair into the style you want (partings etc)

    3. Mix some sea salts with water and put it in a mist sprayer (you can get them most places really cheap. It doesn't really need to be a hair one, I use a garden one, does the same thing)

    4. Spray over your hair

    5. Let dry naturally and voila!

There's a hair product by Garnier Fructis- It's called "surf hair" or something along those lines, but if you scrunch your hair with some of that after you take it out of the braids it could help.

get a few crabs from the beach and put them in your hair for a while till you have waves.
