With people not in fear of much punishment these days (from death sentences to short time in prison because of lack space) too many breaking the law, believing they can get away with almost everything. IF the Death Sentence was still going; crime would be far less.
IF you read the Bible, you would find that even after Moses was given ALL of the 613 Commandments from God to the people, the first one to break one was collecting wood on the Sabbath. He was taken to God and sentenced to Death!
