if i cross fire two 1 GB cards, will it use 2 GB?
might sound strange but i remember hearing it will only use the RAM on the first card, but it was awhile ago when i heard this. i ask because im buying 2 6950's right now and debating getting the 1 or 2 GB versions
ends up being a 70$ difference

I think it will work as 1 GB. To me this makes more sense.
It will work almost 2x as good, but In effect, the memory will not be 2x.
I could be completely wrong, but this is how my mind processes this information. I think the video card is built to use 1GB, and can only use that as a maximum. Even if you have 3 or 4 video cards in one computer, I think the video memory can only be used on one card at a time.

Both crossfire cards have to load the same textures into memory. This ends up halving your available video memory.
