i want to tear down the doors to give it a more spacey look but my (boy) friend wants to keep his twin bed and stay under the covers, any approaches no how to handle this

Leave the doors on in case you have to throw clutter in there when friends come to visit. Get bunkbeds with a double below/single above, and he can sleep up top when he's feeling restless.
