R&P: Have you ever checked out a band solely due to their name?

Do you ever just think, "Cool name, maybe I should check this out,"? Have you ever found a band you really like using this method?

I do this a lot actually, and it's how I got into Diablo Swing Orchestra and Los Amigos Invisibles, two of my favorite bands of all time.

BQ: Most awesome song title(s) ever?

BQ2: What about album(s)?

BQ3: Now playing?

Sort of. One time I was im chatting with a friend and asked her what she was doing, she said she was listening the Codeine Velvet Club. My thinking went somewhere along the lines of, "well I've never heard of them, but they sure sound interesting," so I checked them out and it turned out I did like them, (and then they called it quits shortly after that, those bastards, getting me hooked to their music and then being like, "sorry, no more..."). Anyway, while there maybe be several other instances of a similar occurrence for me, it certainly does not happen on a regular basis. I usually find new bands by doing research on bands that I already like, and finding out what other bands are similar to them.

BA: Rush - Cygnus X-1 Book II Hemispheres: Prelude/Apollo Bringer of Wisdom/Dion (You read that and you just know it's going to be epic)

BA2: What about them? (Just kidding, I know what you mean) King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King, (one cannot hear this without having a nerd-gasm)

BA3: Nothing, but am half-watching some old Star Trek Voyager on DVD

Umm... kinda:) I was looking at suggestions on youtube and I saw a band called akissforjersey, and I kinda liked the name, so I checked them out and they were pretty good! But, I don't listen to a band just because I like their name...

    BQ- Not sure...

BQ2- Same as above (if I think of one I will edit)

BQ3- The Long Lost- City In The Sea

Yeah, sometimes. If I'm looking for new music and I've got a list of bands, I usually just pick one out with a name I like and try them out. I found Gliss and few others like that.

A singer/actress by the name of Traci Lords. Yes, that Traci Lords. She has a new song release so I've been listening to that.

BQ: Suite Sister Mary by Queensryche

BQ2: Uppers and Downers by Fisher (It's a two disc compilation with one being sad songs and one being happy songs. It's also a drug reference and the duo knows it).

Not that I know of, but I *don't* listen to a lot of bands because of their names.

I did this with the Swedish band ''Radioaktiva räkor'' which means radioactive shrimps. I didn't like the band but the name wasn't the most common.

Yeah, there was this band named NunF-ckRitual mentioned in one of my favorite magazines.

Just HAD to check them out. I didn't like them though.

BQ: Death in Fire - it's so damn metal.

BQ2: Rust in Peace - I love the wordplay.

    BQ3: Meh, nothing.

Nope....the way suits with flow charts can - and have - make decisions in the entertainment industry, it is dubious to go with the name game. Let the music do the talkin'.

yeah. I collect records, so I will gamble for a dollar or less on a cool cover or name. If the music sucks, I donate it back.
