Pease help! Visiting Istanbul, but have a problem?

Ive always dreamed of going to Istanbul, but now i have to go this winter. The problem is i have to go with my dad. He's a nice guy, but the problem is that he really annoys me. Especially since he is completely unhygienic, and completely disgusting. He does things like walk around with no socks, spit in the sink, never brushes teeth...and has a disgusting cough. I am afraid my dad will ruin the experience of visiting this beatiful city for the first time.... What should I do? I also shudder to think such a beatiful city will be polluted by my dad's disgusting filthiness forever. \

Update:

Does this bother any Turks?

First of all, if a Turkish person sees a tourist do something disgusting, this can bother him/her as a matter of course. It can bother everyone. If someone says something bad, just ignore. Some people can be very annoying and disrespectful. But Turkish people are generally very nice to everyone. :)

About your dad, if you cannot make him change, then you have to accept him as he is.

I've been living in Istanbul since I was born. (I'm 14.) Istanbul is really a beautiful city. If you get too angry with your dad, just watch the view of Bosphorus for a while. Calms me down everytime I do that.

When I read your question, I was like "This person really wonders what kind of a city Istanbul is..". Repeating again: if you focus on this beauty, NOTHING can ruin your trip.

    Have a nice journey.

And bring thick clothes. Istanbul is chilly in winter. You don't want your dad or yourself become ill, do you? ;)

There is just one solution: Talk to your dad!

If you are not that brave, enjoy the moment. Don't judge him.
